We are waiting for the results of blood and urine analyses.
All reflexes checked out a-okay. This makes me very happy.
Kitty is currently curled up beside the warm box (heater) and is very happy to be back home after 4 hours at the vet hospital today.
Sunday night update:
Blood and urine all normal except for - very unexpectedly! - a slightly elevated blood glucose and traces of glucose in his urine. Just. Didn't. See. That. One. Coming. No signs or symptoms of diabetes at all. In fact, he has gained weight (0.5 lbs) since his last trip to the vet ~ 2 months ago. It makes no sense. Next: we are waiting for a serum fructosamine level for clarification.
Final update:
Fructosamine was normal -- no diabetes, thank goodness. Vet is calling kitty an enigma. That's fine with me as long as he's a healthy enigma.

Thank you for the update. I was worried. :(
Our paws are crossed that whatever the news, it will be something that is manageable.

enigmatic news is good news!
thinkin' about you two. xo
I'm glad your kitty's doing ok. It's really funny how much they add to our lives.
Glad your kitty is ok, but, has kitty stopped pooping at will?
Thanks, all.
MWAK: they really do become part of the family, don't they?
Kate: no, he still does it from time to time. The vet thinks it's just old age with a little senility thrown in -- vet thinks that kitty simply sometimes "forgets" to use the litter box. So the litter box has been moved to a location that kitty walks past many times a day and, so far, that seems to be doing the trick. Fingers crossed!
