Today

Today, after I recorded the last medical student examination score that I am responsible for this year, I pushed back from my desk and, while spinning around in my chair, threw my head back with hands in the air and declared very loudly that another successful academic year is donedonedone. Everyone passed. Yay!

To the first years: congratulations for excelling in the first year of your medical career.

To the second years: aw, you guys rock. Thanks for the teaching award nomination this year.

To the third years: I know, you're still at it. Hang in there, you are all making me so proud.

To the fourth years: I can't believe that you are "leaving the nest". Wasn't it just yesterday that .... ? I wish each of you every success in your residency.

I have the best job in the world.

Congrats to you! I'm taking my Step 1 in one hour. I'm eating my breakfast and reading your blog, go figure. :) But your words just gave me a little extra motivation to keep on gettin on towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, I'll now go and kick some Step butt!

I would think it would be a wonderful feeling, knowing that you played a part in helping someone become a doctor. To me, that just seems like a really great accomplishment. So, congratulations to you!

Congratulations on teaching them so well. I hope I can make my teachers feel similar in a few weeks.
