Ask and you shall receive. The discussion was short, sweet and to the point and a raise is on its way to my pay cheques.
I also ran into an ex-medical student at the hospital today. I haven't seen her in over a year. I first met her in the first week of her first year in medical school; she's now PGY-1 and having the time of her life. She had time for lunch so we had a fabulous, fabulous time catching up. It is such a pleasure to be able to drop the "student-teacher" relationship and an absolute honour to now call this remarkable woman a friend.
Tonight I am richer in more ways than one.

Congratulations on your raise!
And you're right, wealth is not just measured in money.
It sounds like you had a great day. :)
